At Proxyclick, we’re pretty serious about access control. You can see that when you look at the quantity and quality of our integrations, as well as the experience in our team. And that’s not an idle boast - you won’t find anyone better at this than us.
Because the benefits of integrating Proxyclick with your access control system are huge.
They range from increased security to reduced costs, and best practice health and safety features, such as occupancy control and contact tracing. (Find out more about the benefits of integrating your access control system with visitor management.)
However, some companies still balk at the idea of an access control integration. Won’t it be complicated? Who do I need to involve? How long will it take?
To help set your mind at ease, we’re picking the brains of one of our resident access control experts: Andy Orwell, Global Access Control Lead in Tech Support.
Andy: Well, it really depends on their environment.
Our multi-tenant customers really benefit from having a streamlined welcome for their visitors that suits their individual requirements.
The visitor journey doesn’t need to be the same for all tenants, as our access control platform is flexible and offers various settings to tailor the process to individual tenant needs.
And while that’s not always relevant for single locations, adding an extra layer of security by automatically keeping track of who is, was, and will be on-premises, as well as who they met is a big plus. You can just pull these reports in case of an audit, and this sort of data is more important than ever with COVID-19.
Increasing efficiency is often a major factor, too. You don’t have to manually update separate platforms, because we sync visitor and employee details with your access control system.
We also cut down on queues in the lobby, because people don’t need to wait in line for a pass.
Andy: Yes, so another key factor for our clients is reducing costs. We let companies use digital QR codes, or custom printed badges instead of fobs and keycards.
The cost of replacing those can be huge, and we’ve seen companies ask for ID as collateral when they give these out.
Andy: Exactly! With Proxyclick you’re covered there, too. You no longer need to collect visitor data, manually enter it into the access control system, and then ensure it is removed to apply with data privacy policies.
Our integration automates the entire process, from adding only the relevant user data, to managing access permissions and ensuring all data is removed when no longer required.
Andy: The first step is to talk through your preferred setup with one of our experts and decide exactly what you need to achieve your goals.
That could be a focus on efficiency, security, COVID-19 procedures, or all three. We will also cover how you want to welcome people to your site and the options available to make this happen.
Technical details may also be covered in advance; ensuring you know exactly what you need, how our platform can achieve this, and how it will all fit together.
Once you’ve decided, you’re assigned an account manager, who will walk you through the installation to ensure a smooth process. This includes providing documentation and guiding you through the next steps while gathering any additional information needed.
Andy: That’s what people think, but in reality, at this point, we speak to your installers or system integrators to make the changes in your system. Once that’s done, we’ll configure the solution on our end.
Then your installer or system integrator sets up access levels within the integration and starts testing it. If any final changes are needed, they just let us know.
Andy: Well, our Customer Success team handles user training, and of course our Access Team is on hand to answer any questions before, during, and after deployment.

Andy: Yes. Our team has extensive experience with all types of environments, and the process is so well-documented that integrations are always much easier and smoother than people think.
The Brooklyn Navy Yard, for example, has 260+ tenants, thousands of visitors each day, and seven multi-lane entry points.
"Proxyclick was the most customizable and impressive solution on the market, and the perfect complement to our on-premise access control system." - Marc A. Cecere, Director of Applications, Brooklyn Navy Yard
Andy: There’s no such thing as a typical deployment, but the answer is less time than you think!
There are some locations that took just 24 hours, but again, it really depends on your environment and your goals.
We already integrate with the leading access control systems out there, so that means we always have a head start.
